Quatrième de couverture
The Lockheed Constellation: This fully-revised and extended edition describes the full development and operational history of all military and civil versions of the Constellation, includes log-book extracts and a full cross-reference of Air Force and Navy squadron use with Vietnam data, plus Davis Monthan storage details and airline service dates.
There are over 100 colour photographs and, with the aero-modeller in mind, nearly 70 colour line-drawings illustrating the development of airline colour-schemes. These complement the 500-plus black & white illustrations, which include not only many previously unpublished photographs, but also advertising material, timetables, drawings and other military and airline memorabilia.
The 130-page production history section gives full details of all 856 aircraft built.
Foreword
Préface
This book has been written as a tribute to one of the greatest transport aircraft ever built, to the people who designed, built, flew and overhauled them, and to the Lockheed-California Company.
Over twenty years have elapsed since the second edition of Air-Britain's Lockheed Constellation Monograph. Since then, much new information has been uncovered, so that the scope of this new book has been further widened and will hopefully appeal not only to the aviation historian/enthusiast but also to those people who have been connected with the Constellation series in some way during its long and varied use.
The author would be pleased to receive any corrections or additions, no matter how small, to the information contained in this book. Please send any items to: 12 Palace Green, Addington, CROYDON CR0 9AG, England.
